Add a curious twist of fun to picking objects up by asking your child to do it with their feet! Gather a few small objects from around the house, assemble them at your child's feet, and give them a target nearby to drop them in. Encourage your child to use their feet in a new way to grasp objects, and narrate what may be a totally novel tactile experience.

The Science

Anytime we change the demands of a task -- in this instance by asking children to use their toes instead of their finger tips -- we create an opportunity to build new neural connections, while strengthening existing ones.
