12+ | Toy Hide

Instructions

Using one of your child's favorite toys, play a game of peek-a-boo. Try hiding it behind you, underneath a pillow or blanket, or even sneak it behind your child's back while they're looking elsewhere. Their natural engagement will guide this activity!

The Science

Once object permanence has been established in infancy, this type of hiding game can help your child develop their understanding of social roles and interaction. Further, by continuing to play a familiar game as your child gets older, they can exert more control over the flow and pace. This promotes confidence in your increasingly assertive toddler.
