Instructions
Next time you enjoy a piece of fruit (apple, watermelon, orange, banana) with your little one, cut them so the fruit can be stacked; allow your child to feel their texture (and the texture of the rind), use them as building tools, smell as they go, and eat at the end.
The Science
This activity engages visual, tactile, and olfactory senses, and promotes multisensory integration. Over time, multisensory integration can aid cognitive, perceptual, and social-emotional skills, which support adaptability in school, with friends, and intrapersonally.
